How to Fix Error P07 on Canon MP287 in Save Mode

Posted on

A multipurpose tool for use in the business and at home is the Canon MP287 printer. It is capable of scanning and photocopying documents in addition to printing them.
Photo paper, stickers, and regular paper (HVS) are just a few of the paper kinds that this Canon printer can print papers on. However, like any other electrical device, this printer is prone to technical issues. Error P07 is a common problem that might cause it to malfunction.

How to Fix Error P07 on Canon MP287 by Resetting

Error P07 typically occurs because the volume counter on the printer’s EEPROM IC is full and can no longer store data. This issue can be resolved independently by the user before taking the printer to a service center. One way to fix this is by performing a reset.

Here is a complete guide to fixing Error P07 on the Canon MP287 printer:

  1. Make sure the printer is turned off, but remains connected to the power source. This step is crucial to ensure a smooth reset process.
  2. Press and hold the Reset/Stop button on the printer.
  3. While holding the Reset/Stop button, press and hold the Power button, holding both buttons at the same time.
  4. Release the Reset/Stop button while keeping the Power button pressed.
  5. Press the Reset/Stop button 6 times. Each time the button is pressed, the indicator light will blink, signaling that the printer is responding to the command.
  6. If successful, the printer rollers will move, and the printer’s display light will go blank.
  7. If the USB cable is connected to a computer, a notification indicating a new device is detected may appear. Ignore this message, as it simply shows that the printer has entered Save Mode.

If the process is successful, the printer’s screen or LCD panel will go blank. The computer will re-detect the printer.

Resetting the EEPROM Using Canon Service Tool V3.400

Once the printer has entered Save Mode, the next step is to reset the EEPROM using the Canon Service Tool V3.400 application. Make sure this application has been downloaded beforehand. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Prepare a few sheets of paper for printing during the reset process. Insert the paper into the printer’s Rear Tray.
  2. Open the Canon Service Tool V3.400 application.
  3. In the Clear Ink Counter section, select Main and then click the Set button.
  4. Next, in the Ink Absorber Counter section, select Main and click the Set button.
  5. Click the EEPROM button. The printer will process the command and print one sheet of paper with the text “D = 000.0.” This means the reset process is complete.
  6. Click the EEPROM button again to check the printer’s log or records.
  7. Click the SET button to reset the ink counter.
  8. Finally, turn off the printer and then turn it back on using the Power button.
  9. Try printing a document to ensure the printer is functioning normally and that Error P07 has been resolved.

By following the reset steps above, users can fix Error P07 on their Canon MP287 printer without needing to take it to a service center.
